Seven Healthy Smoothies For Anytime of the Day

With fruit, vegetables, yogurt, and a good amount of protein, smoothies are one of the best foods to have on your side for a healthy and reliable diet. Here are seven simple, quick, and tasty smoothie recipes to make at home. 

Banana Ginger Smoothie

The fresh ginger in this smoothie helps with digestion, nausea, acid reflux and heartburn. Also, the yogurt and banana give you a good start. 

SERVINGS: 2

  • ½ tsp freshly grated ginger
  • ¾ cup (6 oz) vanilla yogurt
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • ¼ cup coconut water/milk
  • 1 serving protein powder (optional)

Combine the banana, yogurt, honey, and ginger. Blend until smooth.

Green Smoothie

Drinking this green smoothie will give you a great boost of both Vitamin A and C. Also, this will start your off with two servings of vegetables, three of fruit, and the ground flaxseed will add a good amount of Omega-3. 

SERVINGS: 2

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 ripe pear or apple, peeled if desired, chopped
  • 2 cups chopped kale leaves, tough stems removed 
  • ½ cup cold orange juice
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 12 ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (or chia if desired) 

Combine bananas, pear (or apple), kale, orange juice, water, ice cubes and flaxseed in a blender. Pulse a few times, then puree until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary. Try to choose the most fresh kale you can find.

Raspberry Nut Smoothie

This smoothie is great for breakfast, and it will start your day with 3 servings of fruit. Along with breakfast it is great before, or after a workout because of the protein and the good fats that come with the almond/peanuts. 

SERVINGS: 1

  • ¾ cup low-fat milk (or desired vegan milk)
  • ¾ cup frozen raspberries
  • ½ banana
  • tablespoon natural almond or peanut butter
  • tablespoon agave nectar or honey
  • 1 serving protein powder (optional)

Combine milk, raspberries, banana, almond butter, and agave nectar in a blender. Blend until smooth.

Tropical Papaya Smoothie

This smoothie is great for anytime and it tastes amazing too. It is full of fruit and good grain so it also has no trouble giving you the nutrients you need. 

SERVINGS: 1

  • ½ cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 papaya, cut into chunks
  • ½ cup crushed ice
  • 1 cup fat-free plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp ground flaxseed (or chia if desired)
  • ½ cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 tsp coconut extract
  • 1 serving protein powder (optional)

Combine papaya, yogurt, pineapple, ice, coconut extract, protein powder and flaxseed. Blend for 30 seconds, or until smooth.

Sunrise Smoothie

This smoothie tastes amazing and will help you start your morning off right. Also, with all the ingredients combined the smoothie has an awesome purple color that is hard to beat.

SERVINGS: 1

  • 1 cup organic frozen mixed berries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 orange, peeled and segmented
  • ¾ cup or 6 oz Vanilla Greek Yogurt
  • 1 serving protein powder (optional)

Combine mixed berries, banana, orange, yogurt, and protein powder in a blender then blend until smooth.

Berry Pumpkin Smoothie

This smoothie is a perfect combination of fruits and seeds (it does call for pumpkin seeds, and it tastes really good). 

SERVINGS: 1

  • 1 cup low fat milk (or desired vegan option)
  • 1 cup frozen, unsweetened strawberries
  • 1 Tbsp cold-pressed organic flaxseed oil
  • 1 Tbsp sunflower or pumpkin seeds (optional)
  1. Mix milk, frozen strawberries and sunflower or pumpkin seeds in a blender for 1 minute.
  2. Transfer to a glass and stir in the tablespoon of flaxseed oil.

Blueberry Spinach Smoothie

This smoothie will start off your day with a bang. Blueberries are one of the best berries for fighting off germs because of all the antioxidants. Add that in with some spinach and you will be full for a while. 

SERVINGS: 2

  • 2/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2/3 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 large frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup spinach leaves
  • ½ cup low fat milk (or desired vegan option)
  • 1 serving protein powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey or agave nectar

Combine yogurt, banana, frozen berries, spinach, milk, protein powder, and honey. Add more milk if needed to reach the desired consistency.
